Miscellaneous - Forthcoming Books
Comments from Ian about his upcoming novella in Australian Legends of Fantasy. 'Oh, and I’ll be writing a novella (around 10 K words) set in this new fantasy world early next year, so it will come out before the first book does. It’s going to be in an anthology of such stories called Australian Legends of Fantasy, edited by Jack Dann and Jonathan Strahan, to be published late next year. Almost every big name fantasy writer in Australia will have a story in it, and the editors won the World Fantasy Award a few years ago for one of their previous anthologies, so it should be good.'

Book One in the Human Rites trilogy. New print edition, completely revised and updated. From Ian Irvine -  ' I ended up making thousands of changes, large and small, cut perhaps twenty pages to tighten the story up and eliminate things I now thought weren’t working, and brought it completely up to date with climate change issues as they stand today. It’s a much better book...'

The apocalyptic final volume of The Song of the Tears fantasy trilogy...

From Ian Irvine- ' It’s a big book, around 700 pages, and I’m really pleased with it; I think it brings the 11 books of the Three Worlds saga to a good end with all sorts of loose ends, some relating back to the ending of The Way between the Worlds, now tied up. But of course, there‘s another little teaser at the end, which relates to the wrap up book I planned long ago, called The Fate of the Children. Destiny has a great cover, which you can see on the front page of my site'

Note: Release date for UK/Europe/Canada is January 2009.

Book Info - Nish and his few remaining allies are trapped on the Range of Ruin, surrounded by the relentless army of his father, the God-Emperor. Nish's only choices are a humiliating surrender, or a suicidal fight to the death. Yet Nish has to fight, and somehow he has to win, for the world of Santhenar faces a colossal threat? and Nish is a fighter in a land whose spirit was broken long ago. A shape-shifting being by the name of Stilkeen has broken out of the void, and is preparing to wreak devastation. It has come to reclaim the stolen chthonic power that once bound its physical and spirit aspects together ? and its fury is infinite. But chthonic fire has already been released into Santhenar, and is eating its way through the Antarctic territories. Even if Nish can win the battle with his father, there may be no way to stop the fire, or Stilkeen, before everything is consumed.
